It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Dennis Harper, co-founder of Denco Diesel and Turbo and a highly respected figure within the Australian diesel industry.
The Beginning of Denco
In 1970, Dennis Harper and Gordon Wood founded Denco Diesel and Turbo, laying the foundations for a business that would grow and evolve over more than five decades.
What began in 1970 has become an enduring part of Australia’s diesel industry. Dennis’s knowledge, dedication and commitment played an important role in shaping Denco and establishing the reputation and values that have carried through the business over the years.
Today, more than 50 years later, Denco continues to serve customers throughout Australia, and the legacy of those early years remains an important part of who we are.
A Contribution Beyond Denco
Dennis’s influence extended well beyond Denco.
He was also a founding member of the Australian Association of Diesel Specialists (AADS), demonstrating a commitment not only to his own business, but to the strength and development of the diesel industry as a whole.
Through his involvement in the industry, Dennis was part of a generation of diesel specialists who helped establish the foundations upon which today’s industry has been built.
A Lasting Legacy
More than five decades after Denco was established, Dennis’s contribution throughout his career has left a lasting legacy — both within Denco and across the wider diesel industry.
For those of us at Denco today, there is great significance in looking back at where our story began and recognising the people responsible for starting it.
We are proud to acknowledge Dennis’s place in Denco’s history and grateful for the contribution he made to the business and the industry throughout his career.
Our sincere condolences go to Dennis’s family, friends, former colleagues and all those within the industry who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
Dennis will be remembered with great respect, and his legacy at Denco will never be forgotten.
